The study comes later. The tram on the beach is already drawn.
Bali Plans Electric Tram Connecting Ngurah Rai Airport to Canggu
Nothing is loaded from the platform until you press play.

On 1 September 2026 the Bali provincial government, the Badung regency and the state rail operator KAI signed an agreement to prepare a tram line from Ngurah Rai airport to Canggu. According to Badung, a feasibility study is still to follow. The published targets already have dates: airport to Legian by the end of 2028, on to Canggu in early 2031. Three weeks earlier, on 14 August, International Railway Journal reported that light rail is replacing the metro Bali had previously planned, which failed to attract enough private investors.

The facts above are reported by the sources listed. What follows is our opinion.
If you ask me, this is another ridiculous project, dreamed up for the kickbacks and for buying up land with state money.
One thing is what the official documents say about the route. But watch the second shot of the video from their own state presentation: a tram running along the beach.
The fact alone that they are preparing a state contract and then present it with a tram running across the beach. That is barbarism. That is amateurism of the crudest kind.
How do you put rails and a tram line across a beach, across unstabilised ground? Or rather — even if they stabilised it, how stable can a beach be, when the tide comes in and goes out?
What kind of amateurism is this?
And of course the Indonesian public applauds and thinks it will actually get built.
